In less than two months I will be turning 21. In most countries this age isn't really a big deal, in the United States however- it's the party of your life...at least for most people. And why is that? At 21 you're legally allowed to drink alcohol (I know, it's ridiculous) and gamble throughout the country. What an occasion to celebrate!
A popular spot Americans chose to ring in their 21st birthdays is none other than the infamous city of Las Vegas. They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...and what this normally includes is: heavy drinking, crazy partying, playing casino games, high-end shopping and so much more. I'd kind of like to carry on the American tradition of turning 21 in Vegas...and I thought, what would I where?
There are two routes I would go in. The first: sexy, powerful and edgy. And where else to look for that then in the new fall 2012 ready to wear collections?
Paco Rabanne fall 2012 ready-to-wear: Leather, fur, and sparkly details, Paco Rabanne's fall 2012 ready to wear collection oozes Las Vegas sexy appeal. Ofcourse you need to look sexy in Sin City, but looking powerful is also necessary if you came to win and Rabanne's collection definitely displays a sense of edginess and power.
Kanye West fall 2012 ready-to-wear: Yes, I did just feature a Kanye West collection in a positive light. After last season's disaster fashion critics everywhere were surprised that Kanye decided to give it another go and the result, not so bad. Yes, West still received criticism with people saying that his collection had too many similarities to Riccardo Tisci's work for Givenchy and although I agree with that, it's still a vast improvement from last season. West's collection was almost entirely black, featuring lots leather, fur and exotic reptile skins. The clothes were much more flattering than last season's. I would definitely wear one of those form fitting black reptile skins to the casinos. Sexy as hell.
Versace fall 2012 ready-to-wear: If I was talking about sexy and edgy clothing there's no way I could forget about the work of Donatella Versace, whose designs are infamous for these characteristics...and this season was no exception. Lots of black leather and studs in form fitting silhouttes, this collection would definitely command power at the casino tables.
The other route I would go would ofcourse be the Blair Waldorf route.
Blair's summer party dresses are much different then the clothing she normally wears for the majority of the season. The girl who's look is conservative with just a bit of sexiness shows much more off in GG's summer episodes. One of my favorite looks is this 2008 spring summer Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. Perfect for a my impending May birthday party in the spring soon to be summer Vegas weather.
This look is also another favorite. I searched high and low for this dress and finally found it on Blue Velvet Vintage's website. The Bettie Page "Captain" dress is classic with a retro vibe. It looks like something that could be worn in a classic casino movie. I would also really love to wear this one for my birthday party.
What do you think? What would you wear to a celebration in Vegas's infamous casinos?

Something sassy and sexy! I went to Vegas last year and had a blast. You're going to have a wonderful time. It gets really hot there, so make sure whatever it is you're cool and comfortable with great feeling shoes. haha

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what they're talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe you're not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
